Some green design kudos

I noticed whilst browsing this years 'Semi-Permanent' conference website that desktop magazine is having a competition for the front cover of the June 2010 issue. Covering all design things 'green'. All you have to do is interpret or communicate 'sustainable design'. The top 10 will be displayed on the big screen at 'Semi-Permanent' Sydney and voted on by your peers on the conference and mag website. The top 4 will be printed as a set of four for the June edition.

So could be a good chance to get your work seen as it is probably one of Australia's widest circulated design mags. If you don't give a go you'll never find out.

 

More minimalist retro style poster work.

Justin Van Genderen (flickr.com/photos/justinvg) is a freelance graphic designer/illustrator based in Chicago.
These posters he has created to appease the nerd in him just so happens to allure the nerd in me.

He says: "A series of minimalist takes on planets and places of the original Star Wars Galaxy. Not my normal style but I really enjoyed making these. Inspired by the wonderful work of Simon Page and his Astronomy Posters (previous post on this blog)

London is full of vegies and I love it!

Carl Warner and his team of five model-makers spent three weeks crafting the famous London landmarks out of foods ranging from melons and tomatoes to asparagus. Check out the Youtube video below for their process:

International Year of Astronomy

Simon Page is a UK graphic designer with some really stunning bold geometric work on his site. His posters for the International Year of Astronomy are so beautiful, I challenge you to pick your favourite. Most interesting thing about Simon? He studied Maths at Uni and has only been designing since 2007. Bow to your Sensei.
